CCB was founded in 2022 by Sadie Lombardi as a tribute to the many horses who have guided and transformed her life. Created as a way to give back, CCB exists to help others discover the same depth of connection and wisdom that horses have offered Sadie throughout her journey.
What began as a personal mission has evolved into a movement that integrates the principles of nonviolence, compassion, and scientific understanding into horsemanship education and community support. Whether offered online, in-person, or through community outreach, our programs are grounded in the belief that healing and learning are inextricably linked for both horses and humans.
Sadie's relationship with horses began as a young child and deepened through decades of hands-on experience. During her time as a riding instructor she realized that to help horses, she needed to support the people who care for them. This insight led her back to school for a master’s degree in counseling, where she was also introduced to the fields of applied animal behavior and equitation science. While building her counseling career into a private practice, she also earned a post-graduate certificate in applied animal behavior and became a practicing animal behaviorist.
By integrating her knowledge of both species, Sadie began to design a new kind of educational program that honors the emotional lives of horses, supports human growth, and transforms the horse-human relationship.
Sadie’s work began under a private LLC, but the mission quickly outgrew that model. Today, as a nonprofit, CCB is working toward a future where high-quality, compassionate education and support are accessible to everyone, made possible by a community of generous donors who believe in creating a better life for horses through a more enlightened partnership with people.
